Hello Anything Goes Parents!

We're so thrilled about the 11 GAHSMTA NOMINATIONS for Anything Goes! For those of you unfamiliar, GAHSMTA stands for Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards -- it's like the Tony Awards for HS musical theatre in Austin and it is an amazing night at The Long Center celebrating incredible talent!  30+ schools from the Austin area will participate in GAHSMTA!

GAHSMTA will be at The Long Center the evening of Wednesday, April 15.

Here is some important info for you:

1) HOW CAN I GET A TICKET FOR MY STUDENT?

Every student in the cast and crew is invited to purchase a deeply discounted student ticket for $20. The actual prices for GAHSMTA tickets varies from $40-ish to nearly $200 each, so your Dripping Springs Theatre Booster Club underwrites the difference so ALL student tickets are affordable. If your student wants to go to GAHSMTA, please do TWO THINGS.

1) Please have your student reserve their ticket using the link sent from Mrs. Koske via email last night.

2) Please purchase their discounted ticket at the following link ASAP.  https://www.theboosters.org/shop

There will be no late student ticket sales! These discounted tickets are ONLY available for students who were part of the Anything Goes cast or crew.

2) HOW CAN I GET A TICKET FOR ME / ARE PARENTS INVITED?

Parents are invited to purchase their own ticket, once tickets become available to the public on Tuesday, March 24 at Noon. WARNING: The public tickets sell out in MINUTES. These tickets are sold at The Long Center's usual retail rate, and you will buy them directly from The Long Center. If memory serves, they usually only sell them in groups of four. There are usually parents who will buy more tickets than they actually need, knowing that many parents won't get tickets. I recommend checking the Anything Goes facebook page to coordinate buying block tickets.

3) WHAT HAPPENS AT GAHSMTA?

It's really like the Tony Awards. As a "Best Production" nominee, all or part of the cast will perform a number from Anything Goes, live on stage during the show! Exactly what this looks like will be determined by Mrs. Koske, so please read the email she sent out last night (let me know if you didn't receive it). Nominees for Best Actor and Best Actress will also perform a medley with the other nominees in their categories.

Note, there will be rehearsals for the Best Production number in early April (see Mrs. Koske's email).

4) WILL MY CHILD MISS SCHOOL THAT DAY?

Yes. They will miss all day on Wednesday, April 15. Note, they usually wear their GAHSMTA tshirt this day, if they bought one.

5) IS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED?

Bus transportation is provided TO GAHSMTA on Wednesday, April 15. Students will need a ride home after the awards show. Carpools can be arranged.

6) WHAT DO THE KIDS WEAR TO GAHSMTA?

Kids dress like they're going to prom. Girls in fancy dresses. Boys in tuxes or suits. But they should wear what makes them comfortable. They will bring their fancy clothes with them on Wednesday and change at the Long Center (not wear them all day). They will also change into their costumes for their number, then change back INTO their fancy clothes for the rest of the awards show. It's a lot of changing. Here's a pic of the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS company at GAHSMTA last year:

7) WHAT DO PARENTS WEAR?

Most parents dress up, but not as dressy as the kids.

Thank you for support during this exciting time! I know this is a lot of information. If you have any questions please let me know.

Unexpected Tenderness
